Brewing Creativity, Sculpting Stories, and Celebrating Legends: Day 2 of Kala Ghoda Arts Festival Shines Bright

The Kala Ghoda Arts Festival continued its vibrant journey on January 26th, celebrating the spirit of creativity, culture, and community with a variety of events across five venues. Day 2 was packed with interactive workshops, inspiring sessions, and engaging performances, offering something for everyone.

The day began with the Art of Brewing and Tasting Coffees at YWCA, Fort, where coffee enthusiasts gathered for an interactive workshop by Blue Tokai Coffee Roasters. Participants explored the intricacies of the Pour Over brewing method, delved into diverse roast profiles, and discovered unique tasting notes, enriching their appreciation for the art of coffee.

At KR Cama Hall, acclaimed filmmaker Vikramaditya Motwane and writer-director Satyanshu Singh conducted an exclusive acting masterclass alongside the stellar cast of Netflix’s Black Warrant. Budding actors and cinema enthusiasts gained valuable insights into the craft of acting, storytelling, and the nuances of creating impactful performances.

Under the iconic Baobab Tree at CSMVS Museum, master sculptor Arzan Khambatta hosted a delightful session titled Quicksilver. Participants aged six and above engaged in creating whimsical silver sculptures using flexible wire and foil, making the process fun and accessible for all.

Back at YWCA, Fort, Milton’s Bottle Painting Workshop combined creativity with sustainability. Led by artist Tanvi Dua from Yellow Brush Studio, participants personalized their own Milton steel bottles with travel-inspired designs, creating functional masterpieces while embracing eco-friendly practices.

At Kitab Khana, the iconic Usha Uthup captivated audiences with Living Pages, a heartfelt session where she shared her incredible journey through music, breaking barriers, and embracing resilience. Her stories resonated deeply, leaving the audience inspired and moved.

In another impactful session at KR Cama Hall, the documentary Parama: A Journey with Aparna Sen by Sumon Ghosh celebrated the trailblazing journey of Aparna Sen. The poignant film explored her transformation from an acclaimed actress to a feminist filmmaker, showcasing her lasting impact on Indian cinema and society.

The evening turned celebratory at KMV Bar & Bistro with Food! Camera! Action! as legendary actor Om Puri’s 75th birthday was honored in style. Hosted by the Om Puri Foundation, the event featured an intimate discussion on food and films with Nandita Puri, Madhur Bhandarkar, Chef Vicky Ratnani, Kurush Dalal, and SharmaG. The festivities included a special screening of Om Puri’s critically acclaimed film The Hundred-Foot Journey—complete with popcorn and fond memories.

The day concluded at KR Cama Hall with the gripping play Dilli Dark by Dibakar Das Roy. This evocative performance followed the journey of Michael Okeke, a Nigerian immigrant navigating life in Delhi amidst challenges of isolation, survival, and dreams of a better future, offering a poignant commentary on identity and resilience.
