Ernakulam – The shooting of the Malayalam film Cake Story, featuring acclaimed writer, filmmaker, and producer Dr. Rajeev Menon in a guest appearance, has wrapped up in Kochi. Dr. Menon, who serves as the National Secretary General of the Republican Party of India, led by Union Minister Ramdas Athawale, adds star power to the project.
Directed by Sunil Karanthur, known for hits like Maanthe Kottaram and Alanchery Thambrakkal, Cake Story marks his much-awaited comeback. The film, produced under Chithravedh Reels and JKR Films, revolves around the deep connections people form over cakes and how these sweet treats bring friendships to life.
The film introduces Vedha Sunil, daughter of the director, in a key role. Vedha, who has previously worked as an assistant director and editor, also debuts as a writer, having penned the screenplay. Veteran actor Ashokan leads the ensemble cast, joined by stars like Babu Antony, Johny Antony, Major Ravi, Kottayam Ramesh, Mallika Sukumaran, Neena Kurup, and others. The film also features international actors from the USA, Serbia, California, and Moscow. Notably, Tamil actor Redin Kingsley makes his Malayalam film debut.
The film boasts a stellar technical team, including cinematographers R.H. Ashok and Pradeep Nair, music directors Jerry Amaldev and S.P. Venkatesh, and editor M.S. Ayyappan Nair. Lyrics are written by Vinayak Sasikumar and Santhosh Varma, with Sajeesh Thamarassery handling art direction. Arun Manohar designed the costumes, while Kalamandalam Vaishakh and Siju Krishna managed the makeup. PR for the film is handled by Athira Diljith.
