India has made significant progress in the sunrise sector of Animation-Visual Effects-Gaming-Comics (AVGC)-XR and Digital Media over the past two decades.
Sanjay Khimesara, who is shining India’s name globally in the field of digital media and animation, was recently chosen as a global board member of “The Association of International D’ Film d’ Animation” (ASIFA International), a prestigious UNESCO-supported global organization headquartered in France. Since becoming President of ASIFA India in November 2022, Mr. Khimesara has established sub-chapters in 15 cities across the country and organized over 50 events in recent two years, including the International Animation Day Festival, Awards of Excellence, CG Meet-Up, Women Creators Program, and informal mixers for Women in Animation-India Collective. For the past 17 years, Mr Khimesara has been continuously taking selfless community initiatives in the field of computer graphics. ASIFA India, working in India Since Nov’2000, has benefited millions of students and professionals across the country through its initiatives.
Recently on May 29, 2024, Mr. Khimesara was included in the “Top 25 Exceptional Leaders in Animation” across globe during a summit held in Amsterdam, Netherlands. This event, organized by Digital Confex, saw participation from experts worldwide. Recently, during GAFX-24 held in Bengaluru with the support of the Karnataka government, Pickle Media also ranked Mr. Khimesara among the country’s top 100 experts and top 20 academicians in AVGC-XR. In November 2023, at the VFX Summit of the IndiaJoy Festival organized with the support of the Telangana government in Hyderabad, he was honored with the ASIFA Award of Excellence for outstanding volunteer services.
Mr. Khimesara, the Managing Director of Arena Animation-Geeta Bhavan, a pioneer design education, training, and placement institute in Indore, and the founder of Horizon Institute of Design, is also a well-known career coach. He has positively impacted over amillion students and professionals across the country.
Mr. Khimesara is a member of the Governing Council and Steering Committee of the Media and Entertainment Skill Council. He is also the Secretary of the AVGC-XR Media and Entertainment Association, a Section-8 company established in the state. FICCI-AVGC Forum has included him as a distinguished member, and he is also part of the AVGC sub-committee of the PHD Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Khimesara was recently invited to the National Workshop organized by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting for the feedback on the AVGC draftreport compiled by the AVGC Task Force, by NCERT, Bhopal as Expert Workshop Committee to create contents for XI-XII students and was invited to the Animation Masters Summit held in Trivandrum by Toonz Animation Kerala.
Mr. Sanjay Khimesara has been continuously honouredwith the ‘Advocate of Animation Education‘ award for his remarkable contributions during the Eduspark Summit for the past two years and has received over 60 achievement awards, including the Humanitarian Excellence and Golden Pixel Award. His book “Exciting Careers in Digital Media,” written in Hindi, provides comprehensive information on the media and entertainment sector, covering 72 profiles in detail and important topics such as internships, demo reels, successful job winners, resume development, choosing the right institution, the history of animation, and insights into media and entertainment giants. This career guide is available on Amazon and aims to reach interested students, current students, and professionals for free through CBSE and sector councils.
The Arena Geeta Bhawan, established by Mr.Khimesara, has created a unique identity due to its exceptional industry connect, expert faculty, and excellent placement record, making it an institute of eminence since 1997. The institute’s 28 alumni have received seven Oscar awards for VFX-animation work in Hollywood films and five National Film Awards for work in Indian films.
