Sharath Bachegowda: Governor’s Statements Are Far From the Truth

Bengaluru: There is no truth to the allegations against the Honorable Chief Minister. During Bommai’s BJP government, when the PSI scam occurred, he himself set up the committee. Even in the Ganga Kalyana and Bitcoin scams, he was the one who formed the committee. Just forming a committee doesn’t make someone a criminal or an accused. Therefore, the statements made by the Governor lack any foundation, alleged Hoskote Congress MLA Sharath Bachegowda.

Speaking at a press conference held at the KPCC office, he said that even in cases where such allegations were made before the Supreme Court, the person in power formed committees, and they were later considered innocent. The Governor has mentioned that there is evidence in this case against the Chief Minister, but it is unclear who provided this evidence, he added.

He described the Governor’s order as hastily issued and politically motivated. In the MUDA case, accusations are being made directly only against the Chief Minister, which he said is unfair. No institution that has filed complaints has mentioned any misuse of power. Now, if the Governor is issuing such orders, what is happening to democracy, he questioned. He further accused the Governor of acting like a puppet of the central government, asserting that all 136 Congress MLAs and workers in the state stand united in support of the Chief Minister.

Speaking on the occasion, Panchayat Raj and IT/BT Minister Priyank Kharge said, “We are not unnecessarily blaming the Governor. In the past ten years, wherever the central government has played games, they have used CBI, IT, ED, and now even the Governors to build their party. The central government has turned the Governors and their offices into political tools,” he accused. Several Congress leaders were present at the event.
