Success comes through ambition, a hard work ethic, inspiration and motivation. The words of great business owners have often used these tools to inspire themselves. Mumbai’s Rikha Upadhyay starts her steps in no different manner.
Today Rikha Upadhyay is the founder, director of the social media marketing company ‘B The Social’ and has faced her bit of up & downs but being dedicated and passionate to her dreams boosts her to step ahead.
Rikha’s story is just of a common girl with small targets who could be any me or you. Only aim she always had though was to achieve her identity in whatever small or big she does and identity is achieved with one’s good morals, honesty, self-respect especially when it’s connected with one’s work status. Though Rikha was passionate for being a successful business person, she always had a heart for contributing toward social cause which she still continues to do.
Growing with the Hobby
As any other school student Rikha had a very common hobby of collecting Indian coins. Her uncle was a numismatist so she naturally had an access to coins in circulation and the history behind those. She slowly but seriously started growing her coin collection and learnt a lot on the subject of numismatics. As she grew, she also started taking part in numismatic exhibitions and as her moral duty was also to contribute to the society in any small way possible, only at the age of 16 she started sharing her knowledge to young students by conducting coin exhibitions in schools, malls and societies whenever she got time.
Finally, after eight years of all her hard efforts, her ‘definitive’ as well as her ‘commemorative’ coin collections got recognized in the ‘Limca Book of Records’. It was indeed a matter of pride not only for her but also for her family and her school as till date no one from her school, collage or locality had ever reached anywhere near to entering India’s first ever record book.
Stepping into the success journey
Rikha always knew that her positive mindset would always help her realize her dream of being a successful business person. As she says “Listen to your heart. We want to but we get so scared of it. We may take the first step, but to take the second and third step becomes difficult, continue to listen to it”. She started her dream project ‘B The Social’ and also started doing job, earned good experience – got some more experience and made sure to give quality time to her dream ‘B The Social’. And for her contribution for social cause in the right benefit she shook hands with an NGO ‘Satyanveshi Foundation’ in co organizing a musical event ‘Panchi – Pehli Udaan Astitva Ki…’ which provides young students a platform beyond every boundary to express themselves with all the joy and colors in the form of smiles and music with complete freedom.
Presently, ‘Panchi’ is completely dedicated to ‘FAITH’ (Fight Against Thalassemia) and through this musical event ‘B The Social’ along with ‘Satyanveshi Foundation’ are dedicated to bring awareness and contribute to beget regular blood donors for thalassemia patients.
Self-Identity
Always remember to earn the reply to ‘Who are you’ –
Rikha feels that it is imperative to remember that whether you’re your own boss or working under someone, you are fully responsible for your profile, for deliverables and your identity. Though business and jobs are the most important part of any individual’s journey but every person should be able to face the mirror and say ‘Yes, I did good for myself, for my family and for my society.’ Rikha put in all her efforts and time in sharing her knowledge on the subject of numismatics (coins) in exhibitions even during her collage days when she wasn’t earning and she realized her bit of success and self-satisfaction. And today, with ‘B The Social’ she’s just no different, it shall continue to be the part of her life. No alternates to that. Whether you earn big or small – Self-identity is the biggest part of one’s soul.
