Every day, millions of bottles of water, juice and other drinks are bought, used once and thrown away. Most of them are made from petroleum-based materials. Making a bottle out of paper sounds simple. Making one that can hold liquid, stay strong on a shelf and be produced in large numbers every single day is a serious engineering challenge. That is the challenge EARTH LEAVES has chosen to take on.
EARTH LEAVES is the brand of ARK LEAFORA EARTH LEAVES INDIA PRIVATE LIMITED, an emerging packaging technology company based in Hyderabad, Telangana. The company is developing next-generation packaging using paper pulp and renewable fibre-based materials. Its main product is a biodegradable paper-pulp bottle, developed as an alternative to conventional packaging. The bottles are being made in 350 ml, 500 ml and 1 litre capacities and are designed to support different categories of beverages and consumer products.
The company was founded by Arya Kakollu, who conceived the idea and led the early product development. Arya serves as Founder and CEO. As the work moved forward, two leaders joined with complementary responsibilities across the business. Sravan Kumar Siluveru, CFO, is responsible for Business Development, Finance and Commercial Strategy. Sudharshan Reddy Gundra, COO, is responsible for Operations and Strategy. Together, they are working across product development, engineering, manufacturing, business development and commercialisation.
What makes EARTH LEAVES stand out is the way its bottles are made. Unlike conventional paper packaging made from flat fibre sheets, EARTH LEAVES is developing its bottles using moulded paper pulp. The development process involves studying pulp formulation, moulding behaviour, structural strength, surface finishing and internal barrier systems required for liquid packaging.
Each of these areas solves a different problem. Pulp formulation shapes how strong and consistent the bottle wall will be. Moulding behaviour decides whether the same bottle can be produced accurately again and again. Surface finishing affects how the bottle looks and feels in a customer’s hand. Moisture resistance and the internal barrier are what allow a paper-based bottle to hold liquid safely without losing its shape. A paper bottle becomes a real product only when all of these work together.
Arya began this work by researching different types of pulp, moulding techniques, bottle structures and barrier technologies. Each step brought a clearer understanding of what it would take to turn a concept into a product people could use every day. That research became the foundation of the company and of the EARTH LEAVES brand.
Over time, the central question changed. It was no longer only about whether a paper-pulp bottle could be made. It became about how such a bottle could be manufactured at industrial scale. The team began evaluating automated machinery, production line requirements, raw materials and manufacturing infrastructure. The planned manufacturing facility has a target production capacity of 60,000 to 1,00,000 bottles per day.
This focus on scale is central to the company’s approach. Many sustainable products remain small experiments that never reach the wider market. EARTH LEAVES is working to avoid that by building a manufacturing system that can take paper-pulp packaging from the development stage to commercial production.
Based in Hyderabad, Telangana, EARTH LEAVES is being developed with the objective of building an Indian manufacturing base for next-generation paper-pulp packaging. The founders intend to develop the technology and manufacturing ecosystem locally before expanding towards domestic and international markets. By designing, engineering and manufacturing in India, the company is building its product on a strong Made in India foundation.
The long-term vision goes well beyond one country. The company plans to set up its first manufacturing unit in India, which it aims to have in place by next year. From there, EARTH LEAVES intends to expand its manufacturing presence to 42 countries, including India. Through this work, the company aims to reduce dependence on conventional single-use plastic packaging and support the move towards renewable and more environmentally responsible solutions.
For the team at EARTH LEAVES, sustainability has to be backed by engineering, manufacturing capability and commercial scalability. Good intentions alone cannot change an industry. A packaging product has to perform well, be produced reliably and reach people in large numbers.
Today, EARTH LEAVES is moving from concept and development towards industrial implementation. The team continues to work on product design, manufacturing technology, material formulation and commercialisation strategy. From Hyderabad, it is taking steady steps towards becoming an Indian packaging technology company with a global footprint, built on the belief that everyday packaging can be both practical and responsible.
