The former Flipkart and Coupang leader, an IIT Madras and IIM Ahmedabad alumnus who has owned a $2 billion P&L, will help drive PointAI’s next phase of growth
BENGALURU, INDIA, September 9, 2026 – PointAI Private Limited, a Simulation AI company whose patented, physics-based engine powers virtual try-on, 3D product visualisation, AI catalogue generation and intelligent shopping assistants for global commerce, today announced the appointment of Ravi Krishnan as Chief Business Officer (CBO). Krishnan joins from Coupang in South Korea, following a decade at Flipkart where he led a $2 billion business unit, headed Flipkart Labs, and most recently ran product for category experiences, new businesses and channels, and generative AI.
Krishnan will lead PointAI’s commercial strategy, global business development and enterprise partnerships, reporting to founder and CEO Nitin Vats. He will build out the company’s commercial organisation across global markets as PointAI scales adoption among retailers, marketplaces and brands.
Krishnan brings over 16 years of experience across consulting and e-commerce. He holds a B.Tech and M.Tech in Electronics and Communication Engineering from IIT Madras and an MBA from IIM Ahmedabad, and began his career at the Boston Consulting Group in Mumbai. He joined Flipkart in 2015, where he served as Vice President and Business Unit Head for Appliances and TVs, owning a $2 billion P&L and a team of more than 150. He went on to lead Flipkart Labs, the company’s advanced technology group, where he ran applied work across 3D, AR, Web3, and generative AI and took emerging technology from experiment to production. In his last role at Flipkart, as Head of Product for Category Experiences, New Businesses, New Channels and Gen-AI Products, he led initiatives spanning automotive sales, Flipkart for Business, Recommerce, video commerce, fashion category experiences and AI-led shopping.
He moved to Coupang in South Korea in 2025 to lead growth products & programs for Coupang’s fastest-growing business unit, Rocket Growth. The move gave him first-hand operating experience of a second large global marketplace, and how commerce technology & seller needs vary across global markets.
“During my time at Flipkart and Coupang, I have watched enterprise AI rollouts fail in the same three places. The output is not accurate enough to put in front of a customer. The compute cost does not survive contact with a real catalogue. And it is too slow to sit inside a live shopping flow. Fix one and the other two will still kill you. PointAI’s Simulation AI goes after all three at once, and it is one of very few companies in this space that owns its core IP rather than wrapping someone else’s model. That is why I am excited to be here,” said Ravi Krishnan, Chief Business Officer, PointAI.
“We have built the technology. Ravi has run the business that buys it. He has owned a two-billion-dollar P&L, shipped products used by hundreds of millions of people, and knows what retailers and brands need before they ask for it. Our ambition is to be the default AI partner for every brand and enterprise moving into agentic commerce, and Ravi is the person who takes us from strong technology to that position in the market,” said Nitin Vats, Founder and CEO, PointAI.
PointAI’s simulation engine produces deterministic, physics-accurate output in under two seconds and at a fraction of the GPU cost of generative AI approaches – the difference between a demonstration and a system a marketplace can run across a million-product catalogue. The company holds over 70 granted patents globally across virtual try-on, generative cataloguing and spatial commerce, and already counts Amazon, Flipkart, Myntra, Rakuten and Zivame among its partners.
Most AI shopping agents today can talk. PointAI’s can show real-time try-on with true fabric texture and drape, fit and size recommendation, AI-styled mix and match, catalog generation, and checkout, all through a single conversation. The same experience is coming to the retail floor too, with in-store trial rooms, AI fashion advisors, and interactive standees.
Krishnan’s appointment comes as PointAI scales its Simulation AI platform across fashion, beauty, automotive and enterprise use cases, and as enterprises begin moving from AI experiments to production deployments. The company is expanding its commercial team across India, Asia-Pacific and North America.
About PointAI:
PointAI Private Limited is a simulation AI company building the AI media and experience layer for global commerce. Founded by Nitin Vats, the company has developed a patented, physics-based simulation engine that powers virtual try-on, AI catalogue generation, 3D product visualisation, size and fit recommendation, and AI shopping assistance for the world’s leading e-commerce platforms and retail brands. Unlike generative AI, the engine produces exact, repeatable output in under two seconds without the GPU infrastructure generative approaches require. PointAI holds over 70 granted patents across the United States, South Korea and India, and serves clients across India, South Korea, Japan and the United States. The company was recognised as Innovator of the Year 2020 by Amazon for the world’s most advanced virtual try-on room, and as a top generative AI company from India and Korea at MLelevate 2023. Its simulation engine also extends into physical retail through an in-store virtual trial standee that renders a shopper’s complete look in under one second on the shopfloor.
